Badge tips

Be aware of the two hour time limit for Cue Cumber!

Be sure to select a game on the Cutthroat tab for badges requiring Cutthroat games, and a game on the 9-Ball tab for 9-Ball or Swimming Pool!

Friends or cooperative players can take turns winning for faster badges. The designated loser can hit one of his or her own balls first or sink the cue ball on every turn to give the designated winner the advantage of being able to place the cue ball. In 8-Ball games the designated loser can sink the 8 ball to end the game.

In 9-Ball games, the designated loser can end turns quickly by hitting any ball first that isn't the lowest numbered. If a player hits the lowest numbered ball first which then sinks the 9-ball (or sinks the 9-ball if it's the last one), he or she wins.

For badges requiring tokens, be sure to select Bonus Pocket and Bonus Ball in the table options. Sinking the highlighted Bonus Ball is worth extra tokens, as is sinking any ball into the highlighted Bonus Pocket. Knocking the Bonus Ball into the Bonus Pocket is worth extra. You also get more tokens for making successful shots in a row, and the amount builds with each one.

Be sure Call Shots is not checked in the table options when working on badges, but be aware that a pocket still needs to be called for the final shot in 8-Ball games even when this option is not selected.

For game win badges, see Game tips.

Game tips

ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help!

Hold a ruler or piece of paper up to your screen to extend the aim lines farther.

For non-experts, Cutthroat is generally the easiest of the three games available.

Pogobots can be beat in this game, especially in games on the Social or Beginner tabs.

Right-click and drag the cue stick back to set its power. Always pull it as far back as possible to break.

You can place the cue ball anywhere up to the second dot to break. Most people break by hitting the front ball head on, or by shooting from one side into the "pocket" between the front ball and the first one behind it.

You can place the cue ball anywhere on the table after your opponent scratches (sinks the cue ball) or fouls (hits one of their own balls first or hits no balls at all).

You can change the cue ball's natural rotation by using the "English" control which makes the cue hit the cue ball somewhere other than its center. Click the spot you want to hit the cue ball to move the red crosshair to that spot.

More about High Stakes Pool

You can select Freeform Practice at the top of the rooms list to practice breaks or shots without playing a game. You can also place balls to set up fancy shots.

This game has very realistic play and sound effects.

"Not including wagers" in badge descriptions refers to the Low and High Stakes tabs, where players can place bets on their games using tokens.
