Mahjong Garden Deluxe
Badge tips Badges and mini sets are only available in the Tower version of the game. You can earn the first couple of rank badges and mini sets by playing the free trial version. You'll need to purchase the game (currently $19.95) to earn the other badges & items. Games must be won online to earn the Game Award badges - see Game tips. Game tips ALWAYS read a game's How to Play, and also check for a Hints or Tips tab and/or Tutorial. They do help! A game is considered won when all tiles have been cleared. Mahjong Garden Deluxe has three play modes. Each is similar in gameplay to Mahjong Garden (click to find basic gameplay tips for either game) and each includes a variety of tile sets to choose from, but they are all similar to playing the original game on Hard difficulty setting where you aren't allowed to put any tiles temporarily aside; however each version provides power-ups to help. The Traditional version is timed, has various traditional layouts, ranks, and a Shuffle option. The Garden version is similar to Mahjong Garden with the 12 animal layouts, and the addition of the lightning and key tile power-ups. It has dragon ranks similar to the original game. The Tower version has more difficult layouts, lightning and key tile power-ups, ranks, community bonus tokens, and rank badges and mini sets. In the Garden and Tower versions you have two power-ups: when you clear a lightning tile, it can be used to find and clear a match for any tile you select. When you've released all four key tiles, all remaining tiles will be cleared and you'll earn bonus tokens. When you've released the four key tiles in the Tower version, you'll earn a spin and bonus tokens, and you'll contribute to the progress of building the tower. The more tiles you have left on the board when you match all four key tiles, the more tokens and tower progress you'll earn. For faster spins in Tower version, use lightning tiles to clear away tiles next to key tiles. Sometimes you can see where the key tiles land when the layout is first building (they are always in the "ground" or lowest layer). Look for the gold edges of lightning and key tiles in the layout stacks and go for them first when possible, rather than just making matches. When someone in the room completes a section of the tower, everyone in the room gets bonus tokens. When all ten sections have been completed, a graphic runs showing each stage being built and progress starts over. More about Mahjong Garden Deluxe Mahjong Garden Deluxe is one of several download/for purchase games (along with Tri-Peaks Deluxe, Lottso! Deluxe and The Poppit! Show) that include chat, mini items as Game Awards, and in which non-Club Pogo members can earn mini items and rank badges. Non-members' rank progress is converted to Game Award badges if they join Club Pogo, but they can earn and wear Mahjong Garden Deluxe badges inside the game. You automatically receive both male & female versions when you earn the special mini items in this game. They appear in your mini closet and can be worn at any time or mix & matched like any other mini items. If you get stuck, an available match will light up after a few moments (note it isn't always the best possible match). If there are no more matches available and you have no lightning tiles, you'll be given the option to shuffle the tiles (up to three times). In full screen mode, you can hit ALT plus TAB to return to your desktop. You can change from full screen to in-window play by clicking Menu and then Options. If you experience lagging when playing this game, try deselecting video acceleration in the game options. Alternately you can try reducing or disabling your system's video acceleration options. In Windows XP look in Settings>Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>Troubleshoot. The graphics and music in this game are especially well-done, and a nice & welcome change from the usual cutesy Pogo themes (at least for me). |
